Orange and chocolate is one my favorite combinations and this brioche proves it again.
This recipe was inspired by a babka recipe.
I love this loaf-shaped sweet braided bread, with gourmet filling and sweet warm syrup however I found the shape not practical as it has a tendency to fall apart when you cut it, usually creating a mess.
So I decided to adapt the recipe using a brioche dough, keeping the filling and syrup part but shaping it into rolls and then in a round mold to form a flower instead of a braided loaf.
This gourmet brioche has an orange flavored dough with a decadent chocolate filling made of chocolate fudge and chocolate strudel, then soaked in an orange syrup and topped with more chocolate strudel.
The result is simply whoah.
The rolls makes it easy to cut the brioche in the desired number of portions (I mean ideally 8 because there are 8 rolls, it is surprising light ;) but if you are less hungry you can still cut it further and divide the rolls into two or three).
Every portion is packed with flavor, decadent and has an amazing texture. hat to ask more from a brioche?
This brioche also stores remarkably well. You can keep it in a sealed container for up to a week at room temperature,
Alternatively, like any brioche, you can also put this brioche in the freezer for a couple of months (whole or in separated rolls) and reheat it when you want to eat it (20-30 min at 320F / 160C in the oven).
This orange chocolate babka will make you melt.. It is the perfect combination of orange and chocolate in a fluffy and moist brioche. A decadent treat to savor with friends and family!
